Map of Curacao and Caribbean

Swim in the crystal clear waters, experience unforgettable diving, shop in the wonderful boutiques, enjoy Curaçao’s distinct cuisine, and stroll through the historic and picturesque Willemstad. Curaçao, lying off the northern coast of Venezuela, is the largest of the Netherlands Antilles (Dutch Caribbean). The island has a hilly countryside and an area of 178,5 square miles (444 m2). Although the temperature varies from 78 F. to 92 F. (26C to 33C.), the constant trade winds render the climate a very pleasant one throughout the year. The rainfall is sparse (22" / 570mm), with some showers mostly during October and November; the rest of the year is sunny and dry.

Curaçao is very different from other Caribbean islands. It has a population of 140,000, representing over 70 different nationalities. Consequently you will find a wide variety of restaurants, shops and attractions catering to every taste. Due to the multi-cultural diversity of nationalities on the island, four main languages are spoken fluently—English, Dutch, Spanish, and the native language 'Papiamentu' (born out of Spanish, Dutch, French, Portuguese, African and English).

Most of the residents live in or near the capital Willemstad, an exotic blend of Dutch architecture and colorful Caribbean pastels. Willemstad is a bustling port and the city’s outstanding historic downtown is one of just six UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage sites in the Caribbean, with over 700 protected buildings.
